Visitor apiary – Langeland Beekeepers Association
Get up close to the world of bees and gain a whole new understanding of the expression "diligent as a bee" - perhaps to such an extent that you will be inspired to adorn your own garden with a lovely, helpful flower.
In 2017, the Langelands Beekeepers Association received an area of approximately 4.000 square meters from Tranekær Gods, which is now used to disseminate knowledge about our pollinating friends and their great usefulness. For this purpose, the following year they inaugurated the exhibition pavilion, which has posters, video screens, and a view of the bees through windows.
The rest of the area welcomes bees and other pollinating insects in a controlled, but wild garden that also provides inspiration for how you can make your own garden more bee-friendly. Children are also offered their own task trip, where they can use what they have learned on a walk around the nature around Tranekær town.
On the farm you can see:
• Bee-friendly flower beds
• The bees' habitat
• Exhibition about bees
• A beehive inside with live bees
• How to churn honey
• How to become a beekeeper
As a reward for their work in creating bee- and insect-friendly conditions, Langeland Municipality received a certificate from the Danish Beekeepers' Association on May 20, 2020, on International Bee Day. The municipality thus became no. 2 – just after Nyborg Municipality – in the series of municipalities on Funen and the southern islands that received this certificate.
