The Souvenir – A Museum with a Sparkle in the Eye

The Musset is located in the old theater building at Tranekær Castle, which was built in 1800. The first 12 years the theater was in operation, plays were performed and opera was sung, but since then it has been used as an infirmary, granary, and warehouse until editorial secretary and journalist at Berlingske Tidende, Hans Rossen, had the idea for the Souvenir in 1991. That year, the newspaper invited readers to submit photos of their souvenirs, and the series was a huge success, inspiring Hans Rossen to buy up old souvenirs in bulk at flea markets. Two years later, on June 1, 2021, the Souvenir became a reality.
