Camping is an easy and cheap way to get closer to nature and experience new places. It is also a very flexible form of holiday, where you decide the time frame yourself, and can go from place to place, from day to day. But every good holiday starts with a little planning at home, and in this blog post we have compiled an overview of what you should know about tent and nature campsites on Langeland, and what you should bring, besides your good mood, to make your first camping trip a success.
We have made a basic packing list for a camping trip, and one that is a little extra. Both lists are of course only indicative and for inspiration – part of the fun of camping is that over time you find out what you can and will do without, and what you would like to prioritize. Regardless, it can be a good idea to start by borrowing or renting as much as you can, so that you can find out as cheaply as possible whether camping is for you.
Basic packing list
One of the most important things about a camping trip is, of course, the tent. You’ve probably heard it before – “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing”, and the same actually applies to a tent. Therefore, make sure to borrow, rent, or invest in a tent that can handle the weather conditions that your holiday destination offers. This also applies to your clothes and sleeping bag, so that you have a solid starting point and base to return to. Also, don’t forget to pack plenty of food, drinks, and snacks if you don’t plan on resupplying along the way.
Basic packing list for tent:
• Tent, pegs, and peg hammer
• Sleeping pad or air mattress
• Sleeping bag and possibly pillow
• Clothing and outerwear for the season and weather conditions
• If you are on a bike – repair kit
• Food, drinks, and snacks
If you need to charge your phone or other electronic equipment, it is possible to charge it in the reception or in the common rooms. If you want permanent electricity, you must book a tent pitch with electricity or a standard pitch, as our tent area is not equipped with electricity. Note: Most places use CEE plugs (blue plugs). Bring your own converter, otherwise it can be rented at reception.
As long as both you and the tent are dressed for the weather, and you have access to food and water, you're off to a good start.
Extra packing list:
This list of course depends on the size of your tent, means of transport, and what you personally prioritize in terms of comfort and practicality.

• Candle or lantern
• Mosquito net and spray

If you go camping on Langeland, it is of course obvious to move from one end of the island to the other to experience as much as possible. For example, make a base at Ristinge Camping and see the entire southern part, and then head up to Emmerbølle Camping and see the northern part of the island.
Langeland has four Free Camping forests where you are allowed to stay one night: the forest and bog area Lunden in South Langeland, and Østre Stigtehave, Bræmlevænge, and Mørksholm Skov in North Langeland. If you would like to camp for more than one night, or just have an easier and more luxurious holiday, you can book one of our tent pitches on Langeland. When you camp with us, our “all inclusive” concept is included in the price. There is always free access to our multi-purpose courts, swimming pools and fitness center (Emmerbølle only) – and children can participate in all children's activities for free. There is also no extra charge to use the kitchen, dining area, toilets and bathrooms in our sanitary buildings. Hot water in kitchens and showers is of course also included, but you must bring your own dishes and kitchen utensils. If you have been away for a longer period of time, it is possible to have your dirty clothes washed and dried in our laundry.
If you are camping in a tent on or near our campsites, you can of course always stop by our mini markets to satisfy your hunger, thirst, and sweet tooth. Here you can also find various camping items and necessities if you suddenly need something.
If you've grown tired or find that camping isn't for you - we have lots of different camping cabins. From small, simple cabins that are similar to sleeping in a tent in terms of comfort to luxury cabins with a shower and toilet.
It is also a good idea to let the tent and the tent base dry when packing it up. It is a good idea to turn the tent upside down before packing it up. If you do not have time to wait for the tent to dry, pack it up and put it to dry when you get home, otherwise the tent will be as good as ruined if it is a long time before you use the tent again.
